Leading Multi-Generational Cybersecurity Teams with Transparency, Candor, and Empathy

OVERVIEW

The cybersecurity workforce is rapidly evolving, now spanning multiple generations. Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z, with Gen Alpha on the horizon. Each brings distinct values, expectations, and communication styles. As people work longer and teams become more age-diverse, the ability to lead across generations is critical to long-term success. This talk explores practical strategies for managing multi-generational cybersecurity teams by embracing transparency, radical candor, and empathy.

Drawing from personal experiences as an elder millennial who navigated traditional workplace cultures, I will discuss the challenges and solutions in adapting leadership styles to meet the needs of today’s dynamic workforce. Attendees will gain actionable insights into fostering inclusive environments that harness the strengths of all generations, enhancing team cohesion and innovation in cybersecurity.

This session aims to equip leaders with the tools to bridge generational gaps, build trust, and cultivate collaborative teams, ultimately advancing security and retention in the field.
