Michael Phillips
Co-Founder and CISO, vSEC
Co-Founder of vSEC, LLC and Owner of Luminant Group, LLC where he specializes as a virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO). Michael is a Boardroom Certified Qualified Technology Expert (QTE). He is also an Adjunct Professor at DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media where he teaches multiple courses in the master’s curriculum including Information Security Management and Information Systems Auditing.
Prior roles include, Executive Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Data Privacy Officer (DPO) at Rosenthal Collins Group (RCG), LLC, Assistant Vice President & Information Security Officer (ISO) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (FRBC) and Director of Information Security for the Americas with UBS, a global investment bank providing financial services in over 50 countries. He remains an active member of FBI InfraGard, High Tech Crime Consortium, & USSS Chicago Electronic Crimes Task Force.
Michael has a master’s degree in Business Administration from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Computer Sciences from Northwestern University and received his first Technical Degree from DeVry Institute of Technology. He also holds the C|CISO, CISSP, CISA, and NSA IAM Certifications. He serves on the Advisory Board of the National Introducing Brokers Association (NIBA), Wealthblock.AI, Witfoo Security, the Illinois Digital Privacy Alliance and serves as a Strategic Advisor for OCA Ventures, an early stage (Seed, Series A, and Series B) venture capital firm.
