Omid Mirzaei is a security research leader in the email threat research team at Cisco Talos. His journey in the cybersecurity domain began during his doctoral studies in the COmputer Security (COSEC) lab at University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M), Spain, where he immersed himself in Android application triage, malware detection, and characterization. This period was immediately followed by his graduate studies in artificial intelligence.

After earning his PhD, he joined the Systems Security Lab (SecLab) at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, serving as both a postdoctoral research associate and a part-time lecturer. He’s served in the technical program committee of top security conferences and has given talks at top security venues such as OWASP and BSides SF. His security blogs and write-ups have also been covered in multiple prestigious media, including The Hacker News, MSN, TechRadar, GBHackers, SC Media, InfoSecurity Magazine, Cybernews, ZDNET, and Forbes.
