Everyone should have the opportunity to learn and network at Blue Team Con, including the international cyber defense community. If you’re interested in visiting the United States to attend Blue Team Con, you may need to obtain a Visa.

Our team can help by providing an invitation letter to include with your Visa application. To provide an invitation letter, we’ll need all of the information noted in the form on the right.

We understand the sensitivity of this data. As such, information submitted through this form will be emailed exclusively to our Advisory Board Chairman, Frank McGovern, and will be stored here for no more than 14 days.

Tips for Acquiring a Visa

🛈︎ The guidance on this page is purely informational and does not constitute legal advice. Blue Team Con is not responsible for the outcome of your visa application. We recommend you consult a legal professional to answer questions and offer assistance obtaining your visa.

First, determine if you actually need a visa! To find out, check to see if you qualify for the Visa Waiver Program. If you qualify, you can apply for an ESTA.

If you do not qualify for the VWP, you’ll have to apply for a B-1 visa. It is important to plan ahead, as the visa process can take a little time. Here are some guidelines for wait times for each step of the process. See the US Visa Wait Times page for more info.

Step 1: Request Invitation Letter – 1-2 weeks (this is where we can help!)
Step 2: Complete DS160 form and pay fees – 1-2 days
Step 3: Schedule interview – 2 weeks to 6 months+
Step 4: Attend Interview – 1 day
Step 5: Visa Processing & Delivery – 1-2 weeks

The visa process will require documentation that offers a valid reason to visit the US and strong ties to your home country. Here are some of the documents you should have on hand.

Mandatory Documents:

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned stay.
  • Form DS-160: Confirmation page (from the online application).
  • Application Fee Receipt: Currently $185 USD (non-refundable).
  • Photo: 2×2 inch digital and physical photo (U.S. passport spec).

Supporting Documents for Conferences:

  • Invitation Letter: Ask the conference organizers for a “Visa Support Letter.” It should include your name, passport number, the dates of the event, and your role (e.g., attendee, speaker).
  • Proof of Registration: Your receipt or confirmation for the conference.
  • Employment Letter: A letter from your boss stating your position, salary, and that they have approved your travel.
  • Financial Proof: Bank statements (last 3–6 months) showing you or your employer can cover the costs. Proof of Ties: Evidence of property ownership, family in your home country, or long-term employment.
